בתר פתגמיא וקושטא האלין דעבד יחזקיהו כד קים יי במימריה לאיתאה ית סנחריב מלכא דאתור וית חילותיה על ארעא דישראל מן בגלל לתברא ית אתוראי בארעא דבית יהודה ולאששא ית אוכלוסיהון על טורי דירושלם ולממסר ית כל עדאה ובזתא בידא דחזקיהו ועמיה דבירושלם הא בכין אתא סנחריב מלכא דאתור במשרין סגיעין דלית להון מנין ושרא בארעא שבט יהודה ואשרי אוכלוסוהי על קרוי כריכתא ואמר במימריה לשויותהון עמיה:
emyh lshwywthhwn bmymryh wamr kryktha qrwy el awklwswhy washry yhwdh shbT barea wshra mnyn lhwn dlyth sgyeyn bmshryn dathwr mlka snkhryb atha bkyn ha dbyrwshlm wemyh dkhzqyhw byda wbztha edah kl yth wlmmsr dyrwshlm Twry el awklwsyhwn yth wlashsha yhwdh dbyth barea athwray yth lthbra bgll mn dyshral area el khylwthyh wyth dathwr mlka snkhryb yth laythah bmymryh yy qym kd ykhzqyhw debd halyn wqwshTa pthgmya bthr
After these things and this faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came, entered into Judah, encamped against the fortified cities, and intended to win them for himself.

וחמא יחזקיהו ארום אתא סנחריב ורעותיה לאגחא קרבא על ירושלם:
yrwshlm el qrba lagkha wrewthyh snkhryb atha arwm ykhzqyhw wkhma
When Hezekiah saw that Sennacherib had come, and that he was planning to fight against Jerusalem,

ואתמליך עם רברבנוהי וגברוהי למסתם ית מימי עינה דמן ברא לקרתא וסעדוהי:
wsedwhy lqrtha bra dmn eynh mymy yth lmsthm wgbrwhy rbrbnwhy em wathmlyk
he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city, and they helped him.

ואתכנשו עם סגיא וסתימו ית כל עינותא וית נחלא דנגיד במציעות ארעא דישראל למימר למה יהוון אתין מלכיא דאתור הכא וישכחון מיא סגיעין:
sgyeyn mya wyshkkhwn hka dathwr mlkya athyn yhwwn lmh lmymr dyshral area bmtsyewth dngyd nkhla wyth eynwtha kl yth wsthymw sgya em wathknshw
Then many people gathered together and they stopped all the springs and the brook that flowed through the middle of the land, saying, “Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find abundant water?”

ואתקף ובנא ית כל שורא דמתרעא ואסיק עלוהי מגדליא ומן לברא דשורא חורניתא ותקיף ית מלותא קרתא דדוד ועבד זיני קרבא לסוגי ותרסין:
wthrsyn lswgy qrba zyny webd ddwd qrtha mlwtha yth wthqyp khwrnytha dshwra lbra wmn mgdlya elwhy wasyq dmthrea shwra kl yth wbna wathqp
He took courage, built up all the wall that was broken down, and raised it up to the towers, with the other wall outside, and strengthened Millo in David’s city, and made weapons and shields in abundance.

ומני רבני מסדרי קרבא על עמא וכנישנון לותיה לפתיותא דתרע קרתא ומליל תנחומין על לבהון למימר:
lmymr lbhwn el thnkhwmyn wmlyl qrtha dthre lpthywtha lwthyh wknyshnwn ema el qrba msdry rbny wmny
He set captains of war over the people, gathered them together to him in the wide place at the gate of the city, and spoke encouragingly to them, saying,

אתקפו ואלמו ולא תדחלון ולא תתברון מן קדם מלכא דאתור ומן קדם כל רכפת גיסא די עמיה ארום בסעדנא סגיעין יתיר מן עמא די עמיה:
emyh dy ema mn ythyr sgyeyn bsedna arwm emyh dy gysa rkpth kl qdm wmn dathwr mlka qdm mn ththbrwn wla thdkhlwn wla walmw athqpw
“Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or dismayed because of the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude who is with him; for there is a greater one with us than with him.

בסעדיה תקוף בשרא ובסעדנא מימרא דיי אלהנא למסעד יתנא ולאגחא סדרי קרבא ואסתמיכו כל עמא על פתגמי יחזקיהו מליך שבטא דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk ykhzqyhw pthgmy el ema kl wasthmykw qrba sdry wlagkha ythna lmsed alhna dyy mymra wbsedna bshra thqwp bsedyh
An arm of flesh is with him, but Yahweh our God is with us to help us and to fight our battles.” The people rested themselves on the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

מן בתר כדין שדר סנחריב מלכא דאתור ית עבדוהי ירושלם והוא מעיק על לכיש וכל שלטונוהי עמיה לות יחזקיהו מליך שבטא דבית יהודה ולות כל אנש יהודה דבירושלם למימר:
lmymr dbyrwshlm yhwdh ansh kl wlwth yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk ykhzqyhw lwth emyh shlTwnwhy wkl lkysh el meyq whwa yrwshlm ebdwhy yth dathwr mlka snkhryb shdr kdyn bthr mn
After this, Sennacherib king of Assyria sent his servants to Jerusalem, (now he was attacking Lachish, and all his forces were with him), to Hezekiah king of Judah, and to all Judah who were at Jerusalem, saying,

כדנן אמר סנחריב מלכא דאתור על מאן אתון רחיצין ויתבין בצירא בירושלם:
byrwshlm btsyra wythbyn rkhytsyn athwn man el dathwr mlka snkhryb amr kdnn
Sennacherib king of Assyria says, “In whom do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?

הלא יחזקיהו מטעי יתכון למתן יתכון לממת באולצנא ובצחותא למימר יי אלהנא ישיזבננא מן יד מלכא דאתור:
dathwr mlka yd mn yshyzbnna alhna yy lmymr wbtskhwtha bawltsna lmmth ythkwn lmthn ythkwn mTey ykhzqyhw hla
Doesn’t Hezekiah persuade you to give you over to die by famine and by thirst, saying, ‘Yahweh our God will deliver us out of the hand of the king of Assyria’?

הלא הוא יחזקיהו דעטר במתוהי וית אגורוהי ואמר לדבית יהודה ולאנש ירושלם למימר קדם מדבח חד תסגדון ועלוהי תכסון ועלוהי תסקון בוסמנין:
bwsmnyn thsqwn welwhy thkswn welwhy thsgdwn khd mdbkh qdm lmymr yrwshlm wlansh yhwdh ldbyth wamr agwrwhy wyth bmthwhy deTr ykhzqyhw hwa hla
Hasn’t the same Hezekiah taken away his high places and his altars, and commanded Judah and Jerusalem, saying, ‘You shall worship before one altar, and you shall burn incense on it’?

הלא תדעון מה דעבדית אנא ואבהתי לכל עמי ארעתא אפשר דמכל הוא יכלין טעות עמי ארעתא לשיזבא ית ארעהון מן ידי:
ydy mn arehwn yth lshyzba aretha emy Tewth yklyn hwa dmkl apshr aretha emy lkl wabhthy ana debdyth mh thdewn hla
Don’t you know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of those lands in any way able to deliver their land out of my hand?

מאן בכל טעות עממיא דגמרו אבהתי דהוה יכיל לשיזבא ית עמיה מן ידי ארום יכול אלהכון לשיזבא יתכון מן ידי:
ydy mn ythkwn lshyzba alhkwn ykwl arwm ydy mn emyh yth lshyzba ykyl dhwh abhthy dgmrw emmya Tewth bkl man
Who was there among all the gods of those nations which my fathers utterly destroyed that could deliver his people out of my hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of my hand?

וכדון לא יטעי יתכון יחזקיהו ולא ימליך יתכון כהדא ולא תהימנון במימריה ארום לא יכיל כל טעי וכל עם ומלכו לשיזבא ית עמיה מן ידי ומן ידי אבהתי ארום אלהכון לא ישיזיב יתכון מן ידי:
ydy mn ythkwn yshyzyb la alhkwn arwm abhthy ydy wmn ydy mn emyh yth lshyzba wmlkw em wkl Tey kl ykyl la arwm bmymryh thhymnwn wla khda ythkwn ymlyk wla ykhzqyhw ythkwn yTey la wkdwn
Now therefore don’t let Hezekiah deceive you nor persuade you in this way. Don’t believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom was able to deliver his people out of my hand, and out of the hand of my fathers. How much less will your God deliver you out of my hand?”

ותוב מלילו עבדוי סטיא על מימרא דיי אלהא ועל יחזקיהו עבדיה:
ebdyh ykhzqyhw wel alha dyy mymra el sTya ebdwy mlylw wthwb
His servants spoke yet more against Yahweh God and against his servant Hezekiah.

ופטקין כתב לחסדא קדם יי אלהא דישראל ולמימר סטיא עלוהי למימר הי כטעות עממי ארעתא דלא שזבי עמהון מן ידי הכדין לא ישיזב אלהא דיחזקיהו עמיה מן ידי:
ydy mn emyh dykhzqyhw alha yshyzb la hkdyn ydy mn emhwn shzby dla aretha emmy kTewth hy lmymr elwhy sTya wlmymr dyshral alha yy qdm lkhsda kthb wpTqyn
He also wrote letters insulting Yahweh, the God of Israel, and speaking against him, saying, “As the gods of the nations of the lands, which have not delivered their people out of my hand, so shall the God of Hezekiah not deliver his people out of my hand.”

וקרו בקל רם בלישן בית קודשא לות עמא דבירושלם דעל שורא מטול למדחלהון ולזעזעותהון מן בגלל די כבשון ית קרתא:
qrtha yth kbshwn dy bgll mn wlzezewthhwn lmdkhlhwn mTwl shwra del dbyrwshlm ema lwth qwdsha byth blyshn rm bql wqrw
They called out with a loud voice in the Jews’ language to the people of Jerusalem who were on the wall, to frighten them and to trouble them, that they might take the city.

ומלילו על יי אלהא דשכנתיה שריא בירושלם היכמה די מלילו על טעות עממי ארעא עובדי ידי בר נשא:
nsha br ydy ewbdy area emmy Tewth el mlylw dy hykmh byrwshlm shrya dshknthyh alha yy el wmlylw
They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

וצלי יחזקיהו מלכא וישעיהו בר אמוץ נביא על דא וזעיקו לקבל שמיא:
shmya lqbl wzeyqw da el nbya amwts br wysheyhw mlka ykhzqyhw wtsly
Hezekiah the king and Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, prayed because of this, and cried to heaven.

ושדר מימרא דיי מיכאל וגבריאל מלאכא ושיצי בלילוא דפסחא באשא מנתכא ואוקיד נשמתהון בגותהון ושיצי כל גבר חילא וסרכן ורבן במשרית מלכא דאתור ותב בביהות אפיא לארעיה ועל לבית טעותיה ובנוהי דאוליד תמן רמוהי קטיל בחרבא:
bkhrba qTyl rmwhy thmn dawlyd wbnwhy Tewthyh lbyth wel lareyh apya bbyhwth wthb dathwr mlka bmshryth wrbn wsrkn khyla gbr kl wshytsy bgwthhwn nshmthhwn wawqyd mnthka basha dpskha blylwa wshytsy mlaka wgbryal mykal dyy mymra wshdr
Yahweh sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty men of valor, the leaders, and captains in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. When he had come into the house of his god, those who came out of his own body killed him there with the sword.

ופרק יי ית יחזקיהו וית יתבי ירושלם מן ידא דסנחריב מלכא דאתור ומן יד כולא ואשרנון לרוחצן חזור חזור:
khzwr khzwr lrwkhtsn washrnwn kwla yd wmn dathwr mlka dsnkhryb yda mn yrwshlm ythby wyth ykhzqyhw yth yy wprq
Thus Yahweh saved Hezekiah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem from the hand of Sennacherib the king of Assyria and from the hand of all others, and guided them on every side.
23
וסגיעין מיתין דורונא לבית מקדשא דיי לירושלם ותפנוקין לחזקיהו מלך שבטא דבית יהודה ואתנטל קדם כל עממיא מן בתר כדין:
kdyn bthr mn emmya kl qdm wathnTl yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk lkhzqyhw wthpnwqyn lyrwshlm dyy mqdsha lbyth dwrwna mythyn wsgyeyn
Many brought gifts to Yahweh to Jerusalem, and precious things to Hezekiah king of Judah, so that he was exalted in the sight of all nations from then on.

ביומיא האנון מרע יחזקיהו עד דמטא לממת וצלי קדם יי ואמר במימריה לאסאה יתיה ולאוספא חמיסרי שנין על יומי חיוהי דאתגזר מן שמיא לאזערא מן יומי חיוהי ותמהא יהב ליה:
lyh yhb wthmha khywhy ywmy mn lazera shmya mn dathgzr khywhy ywmy el shnyn khmysry wlawspa ythyh lasah bmymryh wamr yy qdm wtsly lmmth dmTa ed ykhzqyhw mre hanwn bywmya
In those days Hezekiah was terminally ill, and he prayed to Yahweh; and he spoke to him, and gave him a sign.
25
ולא כתושלמת עובדוהי אתיב יי על יחזקיהו ארום גבה לביה והות עלוהי רוגזא ועל כל אנש יהודה ויתבי ירושלם:
yrwshlm wythby yhwdh ansh kl wel rwgza elwhy whwth lbyh gbh arwm ykhzqyhw el yy athyb ewbdwhy kthwshlmth wla
But Hezekiah didn’t reciprocate appropriate to the benefit done for him, because his heart was lifted up. Therefore there was wrath on him, Judah, and Jerusalem.

ואתכנע יחזקיהו מגבהותא דלביה הוא ויתבי ירושלם ולא אתא עליהון רוגזא דיי ביומי יחזקיהו:
ykhzqyhw bywmy dyy rwgza elyhwn atha wla yrwshlm wythby hwa dlbyh mgbhwtha ykhzqyhw wathkne
However, Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, both he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that Yahweh’s wrath didn’t come on them in the days of Hezekiah.
27
והוה ליחזקיהו עותר ויקר סגיא לחדא ותסברין עבד ליה לסימא ולדהבא ולמרגלין יקרתא ולבוסמנין ולתריסין ולכל מאני רגוג:
rgwg many wlkl wlthrysyn wlbwsmnyn yqrtha wlmrglyn wldhba lsyma lyh ebd wthsbryn lkhda sgya wyqr ewthr lykhzqyhw whwh
Hezekiah had exceedingly great riches and honor. He provided himself with treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of valuable vessels;

ובית אוצרין ואוריאות לעללת עבור חמר ומשח ואסתלון לכל בעירא ובעירא ועדרין ואצטבלין :
watsTblyn wedryn wbeyra beyra lkl wasthlwn wmshkh khmr ebwr lellth wawryawth awtsryn wbyth
also storehouses for the increase of grain, new wine, and oil; and stalls for all kinds of animals, and flocks in folds.

וקרוין עבד ליה וגיתי אעאן ותורין לסוגי ארום יהב ליה יי קנינא סגיא לחדא:
lkhda sgya qnyna yy lyh yhb arwm lswgy wthwryn aean wgythy lyh ebd wqrwyn
Moreover he provided for himself cities, and possessions of flocks and herds in abundance; for God had given him abundant possessions.
30
והוא יחזקיהו פקק ית מפקנות מוי גיחון עלאה ותקננון ואוביל יתהון במרזבין מלרע למשרי קרתא דדוד ואצלח יחזקיהו בכל עובדוהי:
ewbdwhy bkl ykhzqyhw watslkh ddwd qrtha lmshry mlre bmrzbyn ythhwn wawbyl wthqnnwn elah gykhwn mwy mpqnwth yth pqq ykhzqyhw whwa
This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper spring of the waters of Gihon, and brought them straight down on the west side of David’s city. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

והיכנא במתורגמני רבני מלכא דבבל דאשתלחין לותיה למתבע תמהא דהוה בארעא למחמי ית תרין לוחי אבניא דהוון בארון קימיה דיי דאצנע תמן משה עם תרין לוחי אבניא דאתברו על חובא דעגלא די עבדו בחורב ארשיה מימרא דיי לאחמיותהון ולא אתנזק מטול לנסיותיה למרע כל מה די הוה בלבביה:
blbbyh hwh dy mh kl lmre lnsywthyh mTwl athnzq wla lakhmywthhwn dyy mymra arshyh bkhwrb ebdw dy degla khwba el dathbrw abnya lwkhy thryn em mshh thmn datsne dyy qymyh barwn dhwwn abnya lwkhy thryn yth lmkhmy barea dhwh thmha lmthbe lwthyh dashthlkhyn dbbl mlka rbny bmthwrgmny whykna
However, concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him to test him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

ושאר פתגמי יחזקיהו וחסדוהי הא אנון כתיבין בנבואת ישעיהו בר אמוץ נביא ועל ספר מלכיא דבית יהודה וישראל:
wyshral yhwdh dbyth mlkya spr wel nbya amwts br ysheyhw bnbwath kthybyn anwn ha wkhsdwhy ykhzqyhw pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah and his good deeds, behold, they are written in the vision of Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

ושכיב יחזקיהו עם אבהתוהי וקברוהי במסוקית קברי בני דוד ויקר עבדו ליה במותיה כל אנש יהודה ויתבי ירושלם ומליך מנשה בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh mnshh wmlyk yrwshlm wythby yhwdh ansh kl bmwthyh lyh ebdw wyqr dwd bny qbry bmswqyth wqbrwhy abhthwhy em ykhzqyhw wshkyb
Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the ascent to the tombs of the sons of David. All Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem honored him at his death. Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
